What You Need to Know About Permits
Permit approvals are managed by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Managing permits through the LADBS can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks or up to 3-4 months depending on the size and scope of work that your specific project requires. If your building has extremely outdated construction, there might be more complexity to the job. This can also slow down the permit approval process. For apartment buildings and other properties with tenants, your permit may also need to be run through the Tenant Habitability Plan (THP) Process & Rent Cost Recovery Programs. These programs were developed to give both you and your tenants the funds and resources needed to recover from the construction process.
